Overnight Bivouacs in Devon
Our Overnight Bivouacs allow pupils to learn a variety of Bushcraft skills in the day and then put them into practice in the evening. Pupils will work together to provide everything they need to survive a night of wild camping in the woods at Colehayes Park.
It's going to be a real challenge to gather firewood then light their cooking fire with a flint and steel, to construct a hearth and tripod to suspend the pots and pans over the fire, to select a suitable site for camping and then to pitch a hammock and basha between the trees to sleep in, to forage for wild foods and prepare the ingredients for a delicious stew which could include rabbit that of course will have to be skinned and butchered, to make Ban-nocks or camp bread on hot stones and finally to learn how to clean the plates, bowls and pans without washing up liquid and scouring pads.
If there is any time left after all of the essential Bushcraft tasks have been completed pupils can relax around the fire chatting and whittling their own spoon out of Sycamore or Hazel.
Location: Colehayes Park or at your venue
